About the Role
Resolve to Save Lives seeks a Backend Engineer to help build and maintain digital tools that support public health programs focused on cardiovascular health, hypertension, and diabetes control. Our digital tools help Ministries of Health and implementing partners manage large-scale health programs, improve data quality, and support healthcare workers who serve millions of patients worldwide.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and enhance the open-source Simple application by addressing bugs, boosting security, and developing new features in collaboration with country teams.
- Support the integration, configuration, and monitoring of DHIS2 health information platforms in partnership with the University of Oslo.
- Own parts of the HEARTS360 Toolkit, writing and maintaining robust Python integration scripts for data pipelines and Grafana dashboards.
- Contribute to emerging AI and machine learning initiatives aimed at predicting patient behavior and improving retention.
- Manage production environments, troubleshoot system issues, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- 2 to 4 years of professional experience writing production-grade Python code and building backend applications.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, including performance investigation and execution plan analysis.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or other cloud platforms, and CI/CD methodologies.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, Java-based systems, or open-source software development is considered a strong plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, an eagerness to learn new technologies, and fluency in English.
