Federal University Lafia invites dynamic and qualified academics to apply for the position of Associate Professor in Statistics within our esteemed Faculty of Physical Sciences. Established in 2011 in Nasarawa State, our institution is dedicated to expanding access to quality higher education and fostering groundbreaking research in Nigeria. We are looking for a passionate academic leader committed to advancing statistical research, delivering exceptional instruction, and shaping the next generation of data-driven professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Statistics and related quantitative disciplines.
- Supervise Masters and Ph.D. students in their thesis and dissertation research.
- Conduct high-impact research and publish findings in reputable national and international peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to curriculum development and academic program enhancement within the Faculty of Physical Sciences.
- Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees and administrative duties.
- Mentor junior academic staff and foster a collaborative intellectual environment.
- Must currently hold the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent in a recognized university.
- Possess a Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related quantitative field.
- Demonstrate a strong record of outstanding teaching and continuing academic achievement.
- Must have a minimum of fifteen (15) publications in reputable international and national academic journals.
- Proven track record of successfully supervising postgraduate students at both Masters and Ph.D. levels.
