About the Role
The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations, dedicated to building trust and understanding through arts, education, and society. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Arts Project Manager to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing the day-to-day coordination, logistics, compliance, and financial reporting for assigned projects within our creative economy and cultural exchange portfolio, ensuring alignment with our global impact and safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the delivery of assigned arts projects, grants, and cultural initiatives against agreed plans, tracking milestones, risks, and project lifecycles.
- Manage procurement processes, vendor contracting, and supplier performance while ensuring value for money and strict adherence to organizational policies.
- Monitor project budgets, process financial workflows, and flag financial risks or variances to the Arts Programme Manager.
- Collate reports from delivery partners and support comprehensive monitoring, evaluation, learning, and impact reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, creative practitioners, government stakeholders, and international partners.
- Champion equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding across all programme design and implementation stages.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
- Minimum of two years of proven experience managing arts, cultural, creative economy, or development programmes.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management.
- Demonstrated experience in grant management, procurement, and multi-stakeholder relationship building.
- Professional project management certifications (such as PRINCE2, PMD Pro, or PMP) and knowledge of Nigeria's creative sector are highly desirable.
