About the Role
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, a prominent leader in the Nigerian agricultural and manufacturing sector, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Area Overseer for our Golden Sugar Company operations in Sunti. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in supervising and coordinating field operations within your assigned farm area, ensuring optimal crop performance, efficient resource utilization, and strict adherence to high agronomic standards while driving productivity, quality, and safety targets.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Agricultural Manager in organizing and coordinating seasonal labor requirements for crop maintenance, irrigation, and essential farm activities.
- Ensure strict compliance with company mustering procedures, attendance tracking, and overarching operational standards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly field activity plans encompassing crop maintenance, irrigation, spraying, and fertigation.
- Oversee minor irrigation system maintenance and promptly escalate any issues impacting canals, pipes, pivots, and related agricultural infrastructure.
- Manage and account for irrigation materials, delivering accurate status reports during critical pre-harvest and post-harvest phases.
- Coordinate mechanical crop maintenance activities while liaising with relevant teams to guarantee the availability and optimal use of farm machinery.
- Monitor machine productivity and performance, reporting any breakdowns or operational concerns immediately to management.
- Possess a B.Sc. or HND in Agriculture, Crop Production, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant agricultural field operations experience.
- Demonstrated experience in sugarcane production, plantation agriculture, irrigation management, or large-scale commercial farming will be a distinct advantage.
- Strong supervisory and people management skills with a proven ability to lead large field teams effectively.
