About the Role
St. Catherine's Specialist Hospital, a leading private healthcare institution founded in 1999, is recruiting an experienced Ambulance/Hospital Driver for our 24/7 operations. This position is essential to our healthcare delivery system, requiring you to transport patients, medical personnel, equipment, and supplies safely and efficiently to their destinations. You will operate in high-pressure emergency situations where punctuality and professionalism are paramount.
Key Responsibilities- Operate ambulances and hospital vehicles safely and responsibly
- Transport patients, hospital staff, medical equipment, and essential supplies to assigned locations
- Ensure safe and comfortable patient transportation, assisting medical personnel when required
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, functionality, and professional presentation
- Perform routine pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Monitor fuel levels and arrange timely refuelling
- Report mechanical faults and maintenance issues promptly
- Maintain accurate vehicle movement and trip records
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Respond professionally and calmly during emergency situations
- Protect hospital property during all duties
- Valid Nigerian driver's licence (mandatory)
- Proven experience operating vehicles safely and responsibly
- Strong knowledge of Port Harcourt road networks and surrounding areas
- Familiarity with alternative routes beneficial for emergency situations
- Previous ambulance or hospital vehicle driving experience preferred
- Excellent discipline, punctuality, and professional demeanor
- Ability to work under pressure in time-sensitive environments
