About the Role

HBM Nigeria Plc (Formerly Lafarge Africa Plc), a global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Alternative Fuel Engineer for our Ashaka plant. In this vital role, you will facilitate the co-processing of alternative fuels and raw materials (AFRs), optimizing thermal energy costs and championing environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and coordinate weekly, monthly, and annual alternative fuel roadmaps and budgets to ensure consumption targets are met.
  • Benchmark co-processing costs and KPIs, supporting target setting and operational performance assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Geocycle team on Alternative Fuel CAPEX/OPEX projects and maintain optimal inventory levels of industrial waste.
  • Monitor and optimize process parameters from the quarry to cement milling, ensuring clinker quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead daily reviews and departmental meetings to drive significant improvements in percentage alternative fuel consumption.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, actively supporting ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015 implementations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a relevant discipline, with a NEBOSH certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience within the cement manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of cement processes, including quarrying, raw meal preparation, burning, combustion, and grinding.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint); knowledge of SAP and SAP FC is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of raw material chemistry, alternative fuels, and quality management systems.
