About the Role
Concern on Climate Change for the Community Initiative (FOURCi) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Agronomy Officer to join our dynamic team in North East Nigeria (Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states). As a non-profit organization comprised of academics, environmentalists, agricultural experts, and community volunteers, we are committed to safeguarding our climate through impactful interventions in climate education, livelihood support, climate-smart agriculture, environmental sustainability, and WASH. This role offers a unique opportunity to directly impact vulnerable communities by promoting sustainable farming practices and enhancing local food security.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and monitor climate-smart agricultural projects across target communities in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.
- Provide technical training, guidance, and capacity building to local farmers on modern, sustainable agronomic practices.
- Collaborate with agricultural experts and community volunteers to improve crop yields and resilience against climate change.
- Conduct regular field assessments, collect agricultural data, and prepare comprehensive progress reports for project stakeholders.
- Promote sustainable land management and environmental conservation techniques aligned with FOURCi thematic focuses.
- Facilitate community engagement workshops to encourage the adoption of innovative farming technologies and nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
- Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Crop Production, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of proven experience in agricultural extension services, agronomy, or climate-smart agriculture projects.
- Strong understanding of the agricultural challenges and climate contexts within North East Nigeria (BAY states).
- Excellent communication, community mobilization, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in report writing, data collection, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse, resource-limited, and humanitarian settings.
