About the Role

Concern on Climate Change for the Community Initiative (FOURCi) is seeking a dedicated and proactive Agronomy Assistant to join our growing team in Northeast Nigeria. FOURCi is a dynamic non-profit organization comprising academics, environmentalists, agricultural experts, health professionals, and community volunteers united in safeguarding our climate future. We currently focus our impactful interventions on Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states across thematic areas including Climate Education, Livelihood and Climate-Smart Agriculture, Environmental Sustainability, Nutrition, and WASH. In this role, you will play a crucial part in implementing sustainable farming practices and empowering local communities to build climate resilience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the agricultural team in planning and executing climate-smart agriculture and livelihood projects across target communities in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.
  • Provide technical support and training to local farmers on modern agronomic practices, crop management, and soil conservation.
  • Monitor project implementation on the field, collect agricultural data, and assist in preparing regular progress reports.
  • Facilitate community mobilization and engagement sessions to promote climate education and sustainable land use.
  • Collaborate with project officers and local stakeholders to identify community needs and evaluate the success of agricultural interventions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Crop Production, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant professional or field experience in agricultural extension services or non-profit project implementation.
  • Strong understanding of climate-smart agriculture, sustainable farming, and rural livelihoods in the Nigerian context.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and community-mobilization skills with fluency in English and local languages spoken in the BAY states.
  • Ability to work effectively in challenging environments and willingness to travel frequently to rural project locations.
