About the Role
Corus International is seeking a dedicated and experienced Agricultural Extension Officer to support our TRACE project implemented by Lutheran World Relief (LWR). In this role, you will work closely with Nigerian agricultural extension agents, farmers, and input suppliers to enhance productivity, implement climate-smart agriculture, and advance the cocoa value chain across Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Abia, and Cross River states.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership in planning and executing TRACE project activities in collaboration with partners and government agencies.
- Mobilize farmer groups, foster social cohesion, and integrate producers into cocoa traceability systems.
- Train lead farmers and growers on Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) and Good Agronomic Practices (GAP) for cocoa cropping.
- Support producer groups in establishing Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) and accessing financial services.
- Monitor weather patterns, crop developments, and input distribution to update production estimates and manage out-grower targets.
- Coordinate with MEL teams to ensure timely and accurate capture of project data and reporting.
- Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in agricultural extension, farmer out-grower management, and market development.
- Deep expertise in the cocoa value chain, natural resource management, and cocoa traceability systems.
- Proven track record working with NGOs, donor-funded projects, and cocoa sustainability programs.
- Strong knowledge of agro-climate conditions, soil fertility, pest control, and farmer organization strengthening.
