About the Role
Corus International is an ensemble of global leaders in international development and humanitarian assistance committed to ending poverty and building healthy communities. Lutheran World Relief (LWR), a member of Corus International, is seeking dedicated Agricultural Extension Officers (AEO) for its TRACE project based in Ondo, Cross River, Osun, Ekiti, Abia, and Akwa Ibom states, Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership in planning and implementing TRACE project activities in collaboration with government agencies and partners.
- Mobilize farmer groups into cocoa production and traceability systems while ensuring strong social cohesion and group management.
- Support lead farmers in cascading Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) and Good Agronomic Practices (GAP) training to boost crop yield and productivity.
- Assist cocoa producer groups to establish Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) and improve financial and organizational skills.
- Monitor weather patterns, cocoa traceability, and input distribution to update production estimates and assess yield impacts.
- Collaborate with the MEL Director to ensure timely and accurate collection of project monitoring, evaluation, and learning data.
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience managing farmer out-grower schemes, agricultural extension services, and business development.
- Demonstrated expertise in the cocoa value chain, natural resources management, and traceability systems.
- Proven track record working with NGOs, donor-funded projects, or cocoa sustainability programs.
- Strong knowledge of agro-climate management, soil fertility, pest control, and farmer organization strengthening.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and community mobilization skills.
