About the Role

JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced State ACSM Officer (Consultant) to join our public health team in Kano for a 6-month engagement. In this role, you will support the Routine Immunization Project by driving strategic Advocacy, Communication, and Social Mobilization (ACSM) activities. Your efforts will help strengthen community trust, improve caregiver engagement, and bridge immunization equity gaps to reach zero-dose and under-immunized children in underserved settlements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead state-level advocacy engagements with government agencies, traditional institutions, and community linkage structures to ensure accountability and operational reliability.
  • Drive community mobilization activities at the last mile to support JSI-supported outreach vaccination teams and promote gender-sensitive health messaging.
  • Train and mentor community mobilizers on interpersonal communication, male engagement, and effective last-mile outreach strategies.
  • Support outreach planning in hard-to-reach areas, monitor mobilizer performance, and ensure timely reconciliation of mobilization data and reports.
  • Collate weekly updates, success stories, human-interest stories, and case studies to document program progress and trust-building outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Communication, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in advocacy, social mobilization, or community health programs in Nigeria.
  • Must be a native Hausa speaker with exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both Hausa and English.
  • Current resident in Kano with deep familiarity with the local terrain, culture, and grassroots structures.
  • Strong interpersonal communication background with demonstrated expertise in stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and digital communication tools.
