About the Role

Proten International is a leading Human Capital Development firm with a strong global presence across Europe and Africa. We are currently looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Officer to join our dynamic Finance and Accounts team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining our financial health by ensuring accurate processing of invoices, timely vendor payments, and thorough financial reconciliations in alignment with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and post invoices, payment vouchers, cheques, and other accounts payable transactions accurately and on time.
  • Verify invoices against purchase orders, supporting documents, and approved payment requests before processing.
  • Manage local and foreign payments, including contractor, vendor, transporter, and operational transactions.
  • Handle specialized trade payments relating to Letters of Credit, Form M, advance payments, WHT, and freight.
  • Download and update bank statements regularly while performing accurate bank and payment reconciliations.
  • Manage cash transactions, petty cash payments, and proper cash records in line with company procedures.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and periodic financial and Management Information System (MIS) reports.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to maintain strict financial controls, resolve discrepancies, and support general accounting activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 9 to 12 years of relevant professional experience, specifically within accounts payable or a similar finance function.
  • Strong working knowledge of invoice processing, payment procedures, and complex reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated experience in processing both local and foreign payments alongside trade documentation.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Professional accounting qualifications or active membership in a recognized accounting body will be an added advantage.
  • Exceptional analytical, numerical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high integrity.
