About the Role
Vodstra Limited, on behalf of our client, a leading transport and logistics company in Nigeria, is seeking a diligent and highly accountable Accountant to join its team in Lagos. The ideal candidate will possess practical accounting experience within a cash-intensive industry, playing a critical role in strengthening financial controls, reducing revenue leakages, ensuring proper cash reconciliation, and maintaining a fraud-free terminal environment.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor daily financial activities at assigned terminals to ensure strict compliance with company accounting policies.
- Identify, prevent, and report revenue leakages, financial irregularities, and suspicious transactions.
- Ensure all collections from ticket sales and cargo are accurately accounted for and deposited into designated bank accounts.
- Conduct daily cash reconciliations by comparing cash collections with tickets issued and sales records.
- Follow up with Terminal Managers to resolve discrepancies and recover outstanding cash promptly.
- Maintain proper documentation and supporting records for all daily, weekly, and monthly financial transactions.
- Utilize QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate accounting records and generate financial reports.
- Assist management with relevant financial data to support strategic decision-making.
- B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven work experience as an Accountant or in a similar finance role, preferably within transport, logistics, haulage, or cash-intensive businesses.
- Strong practical experience in cash management, revenue reconciliation, bank lodgements, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- High level of integrity, accountability, honesty, and confidentiality.
- Professional accounting qualifications will be an added advantage.
