About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to oversee financial reporting, tax compliance, and accounting operations for a leading financial house in Lagos. The ideal candidate will combine strong IFRS expertise with strategic financial acumen to support our continued growth.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in strict compliance with IFRS and relevant regulatory standards.
- Lead comprehensive tax planning, management, and compliance across corporate, VAT, and other applicable taxes.
- Review and submit accurate tax returns on schedule while advising management on tax-efficient business structures.
- Prepare robust budgets, financial forecasts, and detailed analyses to drive strategic business decision-making.
- Develop and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to effectively safeguard company assets.
- Liaise professionally with external auditors, regulators, and tax authorities to facilitate seamless audits.
- Monitor evolving financial regulations and tax laws to implement proactive compliance adjustments.
- Mentor and develop junior finance team members, fostering a culture of excellence and professional growth.
- Minimum of a B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of proven experience in accounting, finance, and taxation within financial services, capital markets, or corporate environments.
- Mandatory professional certification as a Chartered Accountant (ICAN).
- Additional certifications such as ACTI or ACS are a strong added advantage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, regulations, and financial reporting standards.
