About the Role

Fatgbems Petroleum Company Limited is a leading independent petroleum marketing company in Nigeria, operating an extensive network of retail service stations and a massive storage tank farm across the South-West. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Account Reconciliation Officer to join our dynamic finance team in Lagos. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the financial integrity of our business by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all financial records through timely and thorough reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other financial balances.
  • Reconcile customer and supplier accounts, actively investigating and resolving outstanding balances.
  • Compare accounting records with bank statements, invoices, receipts, and supporting payment documents.
  • Identify, investigate, and document discrepancies, unusual transactions, and unreconciled items promptly.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to clear reconciling items within agreed timelines.
  • Prepare comprehensive reconciliation statements, schedules, and periodic reports for management review.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, as well as internal and external audit exercises.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company accounting policies, internal controls, and relevant financial standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Active ICAN qualification or ATS certification is strictly required.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, reconciliation, audit, or financial operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and modern accounting or ERP software.
  • Proven ability to handle high-volume financial transactions with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in the downstream oil and gas sector will be a distinct added advantage.
