About the Role
West African Exploration and Production Company (WAEP) is a premier indigenous energy company headquartered in Lagos State, Nigeria, dedicated to the sustainable exploration and production of hydrocarbon resources across West Africa. We are currently seeking a meticulous and driven Accounts Receivable Officer to strengthen our finance team by ensuring accurate revenue records, timely collections, and robust financial controls in support of our upstream operations.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and process customer, partner, and other receivable invoices in accordance with approved agreements and internal controls.
- Maintain accurate accounts receivable ledgers and comprehensive supporting documentation.
- Monitor outstanding balances, account ageing, and collection status, proactively following up on overdue receivables.
- Reconcile customer and partner accounts, receipts, invoices, and general ledger balances.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, unapplied receipts, and account variances promptly.
- Prepare periodic receivables ageing, collection, and management reports for leadership review.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, revenue reconciliations, and internal and external audit requirements.
- Ensure all receipts are properly identified, recorded, and allocated within the enterprise ERP accounting system.
- Maintain complete audit trails while strictly complying with financial policies, delegated authorities, and internal controls.
- Collaborate closely with Commercial, Treasury, Tax, and Joint Venture teams to resolve receivable-related issues effectively.
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 to 12 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, preferably within the oil and gas sector or a similarly regulated industry.
- Possession of an ACA, ACCA, ICAN, or equivalent professional accounting qualification is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in enterprise ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
