About the Role

Matrix Homes & Properties Limited is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Account Officer to join our finance team and support our mission of making home ownership accessible to Nigerians. This role is central to ensuring accurate financial reporting, sound budgeting, and full regulatory compliance across the Company's operations, while also providing critical support for project and property accounting functions.

As Account Officer, you will oversee day-to-day financial operations, monitor development costs and property sales performance, and maintain robust internal controls that protect Company assets. You will work closely with Management to provide financial insights that guide strategic decision-making, while also supervising and mentoring members of the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with IFRS, statutory requirements, and Company policies
  • Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes
  • Monitor budgets, project costs, cash flow, and profitability, providing timely financial reports and variance analyses
  • Manage tax compliance, statutory filings, and internal/external audits in line with regulatory and ISO 9001:2015 requirements
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and financial risk management systems
  • Support procurement and project teams with financial evaluations, payment schedules, and cost control
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the accounting team while driving continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting
  • Monitor development costs, construction expenditures, property sales, and rental income to support sound financial decision-making
  • Ensure timely preparation of tax filings, statutory remittances, and audit documentation

Qualifications
  • ND, HND, or BSc in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years' hands-on experience in accounting, preferably within real estate or a related industry
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and ISO 9001:2015 documentation requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and financial analysis
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities to effectively guide and mentor team members
