About the Role

Nigerian NewsDirect, a premier national newspaper and digital media publishing house known for comprehensive reporting on the global and domestic economy, is looking to hire a dedicated Account Assistant. In this role, you will work closely with our finance department to ensure the smooth execution of daily accounting tasks, financial record management, and administrative duties. You will play a crucial part in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the broader business objectives of a rapidly expanding media organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in recording, sorting, and processing day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Support the finance team with invoice generation, payment processing, expense tracking, and regular bank account reconciliations.
  • Maintain organized, accurate financial records and documentation in compliance with company policies and statutory regulations.
  • Assist in preparing routine financial reports, schedules, and payroll-related administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with the lead accountant to prepare necessary documents for internal and external audits.
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance department as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant professional experience; passionate fresh graduates with strong academic credentials are encouraged to apply.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and financial management practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and familiarity with popular accounting software and Google Workspace.
  • Strong numerical aptitude, exceptional attention to detail, and high organizational capabilities.
  • High level of integrity, ability to maintain financial confidentiality, and strong interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
