About the Role
Maersk, a global leader in shipping and logistics, is seeking a dedicated Yard Planner to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. In this critical role, you will plan yard operations, support terminal berthing preparations, and collaborate closely with vessel operators to balance vessel connections, deadlines, capacity, and productivity levels for safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain yard plans for import, export, empty, reefer, hazardous, and out-of-gauge cargo in line with approved strategies.
- Allocate suitable yard locations for vessel discharge containers based on cargo type, service requirements, and capacity.
- Plan export-container positioning to support efficient vessel loading and minimal rehandling.
- Monitor live vessel, yard, and gate activities using Navis N4, XPS, and other operational applications.
- Coordinate with Vessel Planning, Dispatch, Equipment Control, and Gate Operations teams to align operational plans.
- Manage and escalate planning exceptions, congestion risks, and special-cargo discrepancies.
- Ensure hazardous and special cargo is segregated in accordance with IMDG and HSSE standards.
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Transport Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in container-terminal operations, yard or vessel planning, and equipment control.
- Strong knowledge of container-terminal vessel, yard, gate, and equipment operations.
- Working knowledge of terminal operating systems like Navis N4 or XPS, alongside MS Office.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
