About the Role
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading humanitarian organization dedicated to supporting conflict-affected populations globally. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced WASH Officer to be based in Pulka, Nigeria, to coordinate and implement critical water, sanitation, and hygiene projects in alignment with cluster standards and organizational guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, implement, and monitor emergency WASH interventions in targeted communities, IDP camps, and health facilities.
- Supervise the rehabilitation and maintenance of emergency sanitation and water supply facilities.
- Coordinate the distribution of WASH, CATI, and cholera kits to vulnerable households.
- Facilitate community mobilization and lead the training and capacity building of water committees.
- Collaborate with internal and external technical experts, representing DRC at local WASH coordination meetings.
- Support the development of procurement plans and ensure strict compliance with DRC WASH Standard Operating Procedures.
- Contribute to weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting alongside monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in implementing and evaluating WASH and civil infrastructure projects within humanitarian contexts.
- Thorough knowledge of WASH approaches and Sphere standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic skills in AutoCAD or relevant design software.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, alongside mandatory fluency in Hausa and Kanuri.
- Familiarity with the humanitarian context in Northeast Nigeria.
