About the Role
Action Against Hunger | ACF Nigeria is a global humanitarian organization dedicated to ending world hunger and improving community access to safe water. We are currently seeking a dedicated WASH Engineer to join our team in Katsina. In this role, you will oversee critical technical interventions aimed at improving access to safe water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices, while building the resilience of vulnerable populations across the region.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise water and sanitation construction activities, preparing technical designs, drawings, and Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure strict adherence to ACF WASH standards, design specifications, and quality assurance protocols.
- Facilitate the selection, design, and implementation of sustainable ground and surface water supply systems alongside appropriate sanitation infrastructure.
- Build the capacity of staff, local government stakeholders, and community-led WASH Committees (WASHCOMs) to ensure long-term project sustainability.
- Collaborate closely with hygiene promotion and sanitation marketing officers to integrate sustainable WASH practices into targeted communities.
- Prepare and submit accurate technical reports, progress updates, and data mapping utilizing tools like mWater.
- Ensure all WASH activities fully comply with SPHERE minimum standards and internal humanitarian guidelines.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Geology, Building, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of progressive professional experience in supervising WASH-related construction and rehabilitation activities.
- Demonstrated experience working within the humanitarian sector, preferably with international NGOs.
- Strong technical proficiency in water system design, hydrogeological assessments, and sanitation facility development.
- Exceptional interpersonal and community engagement skills with the ability to adapt to dynamic environments.
- Full professional fluency in both English and Hausa, with proficiency in Kanuri considered a distinct advantage.
