About the Role
Maersk is a global leader in shipping and logistics, operating in approximately 130 countries with a robust workforce dedicated to connecting the world. We are currently looking for a dynamic Vessel Planner to join our team in Nigeria, operating from the Operations Control Room to ensure safe, predictable, and efficient terminal operations.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, maintain, and update vessel discharge, loading, restow, and shifting plans within the Terminal Operating System.
- Validate vessel stability, stowage compatibility, sequence of loading and discharge, and crane work distribution.
- Monitor live vessel operations, comparing planned versus actual execution to protect crane productivity and operational continuity.
- Troubleshoot planning issues such as yard conflicts, resource mismatches, and sequencing challenges in real time.
- Coordinate closely with Yard Planning, Dispatch, Equipment Control, and frontline teams to align planning with execution.
- Participate in root-cause analysis, SQDC reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Transport Management, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in container terminal operations, vessel planning, yard planning, or dispatching functions.
- Strong understanding of vessel, yard, gate, and equipment operations, including container flow management.
- Proficiency in terminal operating systems like Navis N4, alongside strong Microsoft Excel and communication skills.
