About the Role

We are currently looking for a skilled and compassionate Theatre Assistant to join our dynamic surgical team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our operating theatres, directly contributing to successful patient outcomes in specialties ranging from orthopaedics to neurosurgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the operating theatre for surgical procedures by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist surgeons and surgical nurses during operations by handing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of surgical consumables and report any shortages to the supervisor.
  • Ensure the safe handling, cleaning, sterilization, and proper storage of all surgical instruments post-surgery.
  • Transport patients to and from the theatre suite in a safe, professional, and reassuring manner.
  • Comply with all hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
  • Relevant professional qualification in healthcare support, nursing, or a related medical field.
  • Previous working experience in a surgical or hospital theatre environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of aseptic techniques, sterilization processes, and surgical safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with medical staff.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure, fast-paced emergency and surgical environments.
