About the Role
Margaret Lawrence University, a premier private institution dedicated to academic excellence and character development, is seeking a qualified and dedicated Technologist I to join our Laboratory Technical Services team at the Paul Odili College of Medicine. Located in the serene environment of River Park Estate, Lugbe, Abuja (FCT), our institution provides a world-class environment for learning, medical training, and advanced research. We are looking for a professional who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our laboratories, directly supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and faculty researchers.
Key Responsibilities- Support academic teaching, practical laboratory sessions, and cutting-edge research activities across various medical disciplines.
- Handle, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment in strict adherence to quality assurance and safety protocols.
- Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain a safe, hazard-free laboratory environment for staff and students.
- Manage laboratory inventory, track supplies, and coordinate the procurement of necessary reagents and materials.
- Assist in the day-to-day administration and efficient coordination of laboratory operations under the College of Medicine.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the appropriate University authority in line with institutional goals.
- Possession of a relevant Bachelor's degree, HND, or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant laboratory discipline.
- Appropriate professional registration or valid licence where applicable to the discipline.
- Demonstrated post-qualification experience commensurate with the cadre, with prior experience in universities, teaching hospitals, or research institutes being a distinct advantage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory safety standards, quality control measures, and equipment handling.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic academic community.
