About the Role
Starzs Investment Company Limited (SICL), a leading wholly indigenous marine logistics company operating in Nigeria's oil and gas sector since 1984, is seeking a competent Technical Superintendent. In this vital shore-based role, you will oversee vessel operations, maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance, providing critical support to Masters and shipboard personnel to ensure optimal fleet performance.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the safe, efficient, and effective operation of assigned vessels in line with company standards.
- Provide robust shore-based technical and operational support to Masters and vessel crews.
- Monitor vessel maintenance, equipment condition, and overall performance, coordinating repairs and dry-docking.
- Ensure strict compliance with Company policies, the Safety Management System (SMS), ISM Code, flag-state, and class regulations.
- Review technical documentation, support statutory certification, and participate in audits and vessel inspections.
- Support crew planning, training, risk assessments, and incident reporting procedures.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, charterers, and relevant maritime stakeholders.
- Hold a Master's Certificate of Competency meeting minimum safe manning requirements.
- Possess 10 to 15 years of sea-going experience, including at least 8 years in a management role within a shipping or marine company.
- Active NIMASA registration and valid GMDSS certification.
- Valid seafarer medical fitness certificate and relevant STCW certifications (including Advanced Fire Fighting and PSCRB).
- Strong expertise in marine safety management systems, dry-docking, and flag-state compliance.
- DP certification will be considered a distinct advantage.
