About the Role
WTS Energy is the leading Consultant and Manpower Supply company to the international Oil, Gas, and Energy industry. We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to ensure the seaworthiness of our vessels, meeting company, charterer, and class standards while continuously reducing annual maintenance budgets. You will manage planned maintenance activities, dry docking, and provide hands-on problem solving for technical issues across our fleet of AHTS, MPSV, and SCV vessels. Reporting to the GM Technical Operations, you will act as the key liaison between the business and vessel technical managers, driving operational excellence and cost-effective vessel operations in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and vessel technical managers on all technical and operational matters.
- Review and approve work scopes and material requisitions submitted by technical managers.
- Monitor defects, ensure timely close-out, and compile weekly reports from vessel managers.
- Ensure vessels meet Class, Marine, and Charterer requirements while supporting QHSE with planning surveys and inspections.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely delivery of goods and spares to support quick vessel turnaround.
- Monitor and analyze the technical status of all vessels and report summaries to stakeholders.
- Develop and implement the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), ensuring all maintenance jobs are logged and followed up.
- Conduct root cause investigations for recurring equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage annual maintenance budgets, monitor spend, and report on fuel and lube oil consumption.
- Prepare and supervise dry-docking scopes, source vendors, and manage critical spares inventory.
- 10 to 15 years of total experience as a Marine Engineer with a transition from offshore sailing (former Chief Engineer) to onshore technical management.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Assistant Technical Superintendent or Technical Superintendent.
- Extensive operational experience with AHTS, MPSV, and SCV vessels, with strong hands-on knowledge of DP systems.
- Valid Certificate of Competency (COC) and a Technical Superintendency license.
- In-depth knowledge of marine industry standards, vessel maintenance systems, and equipment.
- Physically fit to board vessels, barges, and tugs at sea and in port with a willingness to travel to out ports.
