About the Role
Seven Up Bottling Company (SBC), a leading beverage manufacturer in Nigeria with a rich history of iconic branding and market leadership, is seeking a passionate and driven Sustainability Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will support the execution of our corporate sustainability strategy by managing critical data, driving impactful environmental projects, and leading community initiatives that advance both our ecological stewardship and social impact objectives across our plants and regions.
Key Responsibilities- Drive the communication, internalization, and implementation of SBC's sustainability strategy and policies at the plant and regional levels.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly and quarterly ESG reports, track key initiatives including water stewardship and the circular economy, and ensure total data accuracy and audit readiness.
- Conduct community needs assessments, engage host communities, coordinate corporate social investments (CSIs), and manage communications with sustainability-related regulators, NGOs, and industry bodies.
- Champion sustainability week projects, UN observances strategic to the business, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs.
- Undertake monthly physical assessments of operational units on environmental and social metrics, such as labor practices, resource usage, and waste management, while providing technical support for certifications.
- Maintain the environmental regulatory register and monitor compliance with ISO 14001, NESREA, and state environmental protection agency frameworks.
- Deliver engaging sustainability training and collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, P&C, OHS, and Finance to embed global best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in the successful implementation of sustainability and CSR initiatives.
- Hands-on practical experience in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting and comprehensive sustainability reporting.
- Strong analytical, data management, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with global and local sustainability standards, frameworks, and environmental regulations.
