About the Role

Nigerdock Nigeria Plc - FZE, West Africa's leading industrial corporation focused on oil and gas construction and marine services, is looking for a dynamic Stevedore Supervisor to join our operations team at Snake Island Integrated Free Zone in Lagos. In this vital role, you will coordinate stevedoring activities to ensure all cargo loading and discharge operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with port regulations and international HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily stevedoring operations including cargo loading, discharge, lashing, unlashing, and tallying activities.
  • Enforce strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, PPE usage, conducting toolbox talks, and promoting safe work procedures.
  • Manage workforce deployment effectively both onboard and ashore, ensuring optimal manpower utilization and adherence to safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
  • Collaborate with shipping agents and vessel officers to meet expected time of departure (ETD) targets while maintaining accurate records of operations and idle time.
  • Monitor gear and equipment usage to prevent overloading of nets and slings, eliminating potential operational hazards.
  • Maintain detailed operational reports documenting vessel commencement, operational events, workforce metrics, and delays.
  • Compute and prepare labor payment input information accurately for administrative processing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Port Operations, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in stevedoring, port operations, logistics planning, or maritime documentation within a busy terminal environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cargo handling procedures, vessel stowage plans, and maritime documentation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in enforcing safety standards, conducting toolbox talks, and managing incident reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and operational documentation tools.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and multitasking skills with high attention to detail.
