About the Role
DP World is a leading global logistics provider dedicated to making trade flow better and safer across the globe. We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated Specialist: SHERQ to join our transport operations team in Nigeria. In this critical role, you will champion Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) standards, ensuring that our logistics and supply chain activities meet the highest operational benchmarks and regulatory requirements while protecting our people, assets, and communities.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs our SHERQ Specialist, you will work closely with the SHERQ Manager to implement robust safety protocols and foster a proactive safety culture within the Transport Operations Business Unit.
- Execute yearly Real-Time Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (RT QHSE) plans, conducting toolbox talks, safety assemblies, and driver engagement sessions.
- Monitor and report on driver defensive driving competence, medical fitness to work, and adherence to road transport safety policies.
- Conduct compliance spot checks, internal QHSE audits, and non-compliance reporting of incidents and violations.
- Collaborate with fleet controllers and operations teams to identify workplace hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective or preventive measures.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, facilitating lessons learned to prevent future occurrences and managing safety reward programs.
- Liaise with local regulatory agencies to ensure full compliance with Nigerian health, safety, and environmental laws.
- Manage HSE training programs and maintain accurate documentation of all safety inspections, training records, and incident reports.
To be successful in this role, you should possess the right mix of academic credentials and practical logistics safety experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related Science discipline.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC).
- Relevant certifications such as ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISPON Level II/Competence Level III.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in HSE, vehicle safety, or fleet management within the transportation and logistics sector.
- Strong understanding of safety compliance standards, incident investigation, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
