About the Role
Remita is a foundational player in the Nigerian payments and fintech ecosystem, processing a significant part of the country’s transaction volumes. We help individuals, organizations, and governments to receive and make payments easily. We are currently hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead our Java-based platform teams, owning delivery, reliability, and technical growth across mission-critical payment APIs and microservices in this hands-on leadership role.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and grow multiple engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Drive architecture and design for microservices, APIs, and payment integrations.
- Ensure system reliability, scalability, security, and compliance with payment standards.
- Champion engineering best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and observability.
- Own system reliability, capacity planning, and SLOs for transactional services and ML inference workloads.
- Partner with Product, Data, Risk, Security, and Compliance teams to prioritize initiatives and ensure regulatory readiness.
- Establish KPIs for engineering and AI to drive continuous improvement.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in engineering management or equivalent.
- Strong Java expertise and proven experience building production microservices.
- Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ, and databases such as Oracle, Postgres, and Redis.
- Cloud and container experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and observability tools.
- Solid knowledge of secure development practices and payment industry regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with specification-driven AI development and ML frameworks is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and deliver under high pressure.
