About the Role
FairMoney is a rapidly growing digital financial platform in Nigeria, empowering millions of users to access instant loans, payments, and banking services directly through our Android application. We are looking for an ambitious and talented Intermediate Software Engineer (RCL) to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in architecting, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend systems that drive our next-generation financial products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in a flexible remote and in-office environment to deliver secure, scalable, and impactful solutions for the Nigerian fintech ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable backend services using Golang and Ruby on Rails.
- Build and document robust, high-performance APIs for seamless integration with internal and external systems.
- Design efficient relational database schemas and optimize SQL queries using PostgreSQL and MySQL for large datasets.
- Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality, prevent regressions, and maintain system reliability.
- Leverage AI-powered development tools and prompt engineering techniques to enhance engineering productivity and debugging workflows.
- Collaborate with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to participate in technical planning, architectural decisions, and code reviews.
- 3 to 4 years of professional backend software engineering experience, preferably within the fintech or lending sector.
- Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Golang and Ruby on Rails (RoR).
- Solid hands-on experience designing and working with relational databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, building, and consuming secure, scalable APIs.
- Strong commitment to testing best practices, including unit and integration testing.
- Familiarity with modern software development workflows using Git, distributed systems, and AI-assisted coding tools.
