About the Role
Global Pay Limited is a global payment company that values financial and social inclusion by providing innovative payment solutions that break down physical borders and social status. We are currently seeking a meticulous Settlement and Chargeback Specialist to join our dynamic Operations team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this vital role, you will ensure accurate transaction settlements and drive the timely, compliant resolution of chargebacks and disputes across our card and switching operations, directly contributing to our mission of seamless financial inclusion.
Key Responsibilities- Process and reconcile daily settlement files between GlobalPay, Terraswitch, partner banks, and card schemes including Visa, Mastercard, and Verve.
- Investigate and resolve settlement discrepancies, failed transactions, and suspense account items with high precision.
- Manage the complete end-to-end chargeback lifecycle, handling everything from initial receipt through representment and final resolution.
- Liaise effectively with acquiring and issuing banks as well as card scheme representatives on escalated dispute cases.
- Track chargeback and fraud trends, escalating emerging risk patterns directly to the Risk and Compliance departments.
- Maintain accurate settlement and chargeback logs while preparing comprehensive periodic reconciliation reports.
- Ensure strict adherence to card scheme rules, timelines, and evidentiary requirements for dispute resolution and CBN guidelines.
- Support merchants and internal teams promptly with settlement and chargeback status inquiries.
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- 2 to 5 years of proven professional experience in settlement, financial reconciliation, or chargeback dispute management within a bank, payment switch, or fintech company.
- Working knowledge of Visa, Mastercard, and Verve chargeback and dispute rules.
- Strong analytical skills complemented by exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and root-cause investigation abilities.
- Solid understanding of CBN guidelines concerning dispute resolution and settlement finality.
