About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital developed by Afreximbank in partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a dedicated Senior Registrar in Cardiothoracic Surgery to provide advanced surgical care, lead clinical teams, and drive our academic and research missions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and first-assist in major cardiac surgeries under Consultant supervision.
- Manage complex pre- and post-operative care in the ICU and surgical wards.
- Provide 24/7 on-call coverage for emergent cardiac surgical cases and trauma.
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior residents and surgical assistants.
- Lead clinical research projects and contribute to departmental academic output.
- Participate in clinical governance, surgical safety audits, and quality assurance.
- Medical Degree (MBBS, MD, MBChB) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of recognized residency training in Cardiothoracic or Cardiac Surgery.
- Valid medical license to practice as a Specialist Registrar or Senior Resident.
- Proven expertise in cardiopulmonary bypass management and advanced cardiac procedures.
