About the Role
West African Exploration and Production Company (WAEP) is a leading indigenous energy company headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, dedicated to delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable hydrocarbon exploration and production. We are currently looking for a dynamic Senior Procurement Officer to drive strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, and vendor management for our upstream operations while ensuring full compliance with Nigerian Content regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute comprehensive procurement plans and strategic sourcing initiatives for operational goods and services.
- Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and robust tender packages in alignment with company governance.
- Coordinate the complete tender lifecycle, including commercial bid evaluations, technical clarifications, supplier negotiations, and award recommendations.
- Ensure all procurement activities strictly adhere to delegated authorities, internal policies, and applicable Nigerian Content obligations.
- Conduct thorough market analysis, supplier prequalification, and commercial benchmarking to secure optimal value for money.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technical users, Finance, Legal, and Logistics teams to guarantee timely project delivery.
- Monitor vendor performance, track delivery schedules, expedite critical shipments, and resolve ongoing commercial issues.
- Maintain fully compliant, auditable procurement files and generate regular cost-saving reports for management.
- Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant procurement and contracting experience, with substantial exposure to the upstream oil and gas sector.
- Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) or an equivalent supply chain qualification is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, tendering, supplier management, and local content compliance.
- Exceptional commercial negotiation, cost analysis, and cross-functional communication skills.
