About the Role
Paystack is transforming online payments across Africa, building the financial infrastructure that drives commerce for millions of businesses and customers. Every engineering team at Paystack builds upon a shared cloud platform, and this role owns that foundation to ensure it is secure by design. As our Senior Platform Security Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of our multi-account AWS environment, shaping the guardrails, IAM systems, and security primitives that our entire engineering organization depends on. You will not just follow a roadmap; you will define the technical direction for platform security, build the function from the ground up, and directly impact our regulatory standing and customer trust across multiple markets.
Key Responsibilities- Own and evolve the security architecture and organization-wide controls across Paystack’s multi-account AWS environment.
- Design scalable identity and access-management systems, including secure, self-service ways for engineering teams to request and manage access.
- Establish secure-by-default cloud standards and build automated controls that help engineering teams meet them.
- Partner closely with DevOps and engineering teams, bringing security into infrastructure decisions from the outset.
- Strengthen security across secrets management, network controls, containers, and the infrastructure supply chain.
- Ensure security logs and signals are reliably generated, structured, and delivered to the Security Operations team.
- Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into practical infrastructure controls and automated audit evidence.
- Build production-quality tooling and automation that solve recurring cloud security problems.
- Deep, hands-on experience securing AWS environments at scale, including multi-account architecture, organization-wide policies, and access governance.
- Proven ability to write high-quality, defensive code and build security infrastructure, automation, and tooling independently.
- Broad expertise across Platform Security, including IAM, secrets, networks, containers, and software supply chains.
- Experience operating in regulated environments and automating security controls across multiple compliance frameworks.
