About the Role
Join the World Health Organization (WHO) in Nigeria as a Senior Operations Officer and play a critical role in supporting international public health initiatives. In this leadership position, you will provide authoritative guidance to the Head of the WHO Country Office, ensuring the delivery of efficient, effective, and timely operational services. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to respond to health emergencies, manage resources, and foster sustainable institutional capacity across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, empower, and manage operations teams delivering services in budget and finance, human resources, procurement, ICT, and general administration.
- Provide strategic advice to the country management team, ensuring strict compliance with WHO policies, rules, and regulations.
- Oversee financial resources management, including budget preparation, expense monitoring, accurate accounts reconciliation, and award management.
- Direct the formulation and implementation of country office HR plans to attract, retain, and develop top-tier talent while promoting diversity.
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes for goods and services, guaranteeing optimal value for money in support of technical programs.
- Coordinate staff safety, security services, and business continuity planning in alignment with UN Common Services agreements.
- Implement efficient systems for resource administration and risk mitigation, particularly during acute public health emergencies.
- Advanced university degree (Master's) in Finance, Management, Accountancy, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience delivering administrative and managerial services in national and international settings.
- At least four years of demonstrated experience leading and managing multi-cultural teams.
- Prior working experience with WHO, United Nations agencies, or international development organizations is highly desirable.
