About the Role
The Cross River State Government is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Medical Officer I to join our esteemed public healthcare workforce. In this vital role, you will provide advanced clinical care, mentor junior medical personnel, and contribute significantly to healthcare delivery and policy implementation across our healthcare facilities in Calabar and beyond. We are looking for a committed medical professional with a deep passion for public health and community service in southeastern Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive, high-quality medical and surgical care to patients attending state healthcare facilities.
- Supervise, mentor, and guide resident doctors, medical officers, interns, and nursing staff.
- Participate in medical emergencies, ward rounds, clinics, and surgical procedures as required.
- Collaborate with the Ministry of Health on public health campaigns, disease surveillance, and community outreach programs.
- Ensure adherence to clinical governance, medical ethics, and hospital safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and contribute to institutional research and reporting.
- Possession of an MBBCh or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) with a valid practicing license.
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of post-qualification clinical practice experience in a reputable hospital or healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience managing multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
