About the Role
HBM Nigeria Plc (Formerly Lafarge), a global leader in building solutions and materials, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal team. In this pivotal role, you will provide comprehensive legal advisory services, manage complex commercial contracts, and direct litigation strategies to safeguard the company's operational integrity and reputation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the strategy and handling of active lawsuits, pre-litigation claims, regulatory inquiries, and dispute resolutions.
- Provide proactive legal advisory to the Cement, A&C, and HBM Eco operations regarding commercial, labor, and competition law.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex procurement contracts, technical service agreements, and commercial leases.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel, setting case strategies and controlling legal budgets.
- Conduct regular legal risk assessments, ensure compliance with Nigerian corporate governance, and drive anti-trust training programs.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-call experience dedicated to litigation, preferably gained at a top-tier law firm or multinational corporation.
- Strong expertise in vetting and drafting commercial contracts, dispute resolution, and risk management.
