About the Role
Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified manufacturing conglomerate, is seeking an exceptional and results-driven Senior General Manager - Mechanical to join our operations in Lagos, Nigeria. In this executive leadership role, you will hold overall responsibility for the safe maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring maximum production quantity and quality while driving cost leadership and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive maintenance strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
- Manage the plant maintenance program using cement industry best practices, focusing on planning, scheduling, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Minimize unplanned downtime by continuously reviewing plant equipment performance and solving operational challenges proactively.
- Ensure cost-effective control over capital, operating expenditures, and manpower while championing efficiency-driven projects.
- Direct, maintain, and rigorously enforce safety programs and regulatory compliance within the maintenance department.
- Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and equipment history.
- Provide visionary leadership, training, and professional development to plant maintenance engineers and technicians.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 27 years of extensive experience in the repairs and maintenance of heavy cement manufacturing equipment.
- In-depth technical knowledge of cement plant maintenance and end-to-end manufacturing processes.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic management abilities.
- Strong proficiency in data gathering, analytical problem-solving, and MS Office applications.
