About the Role

Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, dedicated to improving the health of women and families worldwide. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, experienced professional to join our finance team in Nigeria as a Senior Finance Officer. In this role, you will play a crucial part in implementing financial operations, ensuring strict compliance with institutional donor regulations, and maintaining robust internal controls for our public health projects across the country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Post daily vendor payment vouchers and review the accuracy of all financial transactions entered into QuickBooks by the finance team.
  • Lead prompt monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring closure by the third business day after the reporting period.
  • Perform physical verification of assets and inventory records in coordination with the administration department in line with donor requirements.
  • Conduct regular ageing analysis of accounts receivables and payables, monitor supplier statements, and ensure timely settlement of bills.
  • Ensure prompt remittance of statutory deductions such as PAYEE, Pension, NHF, and WHT to relevant Nigerian government authorities.
  • Prepare DA1 VAT exemption forms and maintain accurate records relating to VAT exemption applications and supplier refunds.
  • Assess training needs and build the capacity of field-based finance staff through regular field visits and technical support.
  • Assist the Senior Finance and Admin Manager with monthly financial reports, accruals, projections, and overall office financial health.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a recognized equivalent is required.
  • MBA in Accounting or a professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or recognized equivalent is highly desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in finance or accounting, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of institutional donor regulations and procedures, particularly USAID, is a strong advantage.
  • High proficiency in accounting software, specifically QuickBooks, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with a commitment to high integrity and confidentiality.
