About the Role
West African Exploration and Production Company (WAEP) is a premier indigenous energy company headquartered in Lagos State, Nigeria, dedicated to safe, efficient, and sustainable hydrocarbon exploration and production. We are currently seeking an accomplished Senior Drilling Engineer to drive the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of our upstream exploration, appraisal, and development wells across the region.
Key Responsibilities- Develop comprehensive drilling programmes, basis of design, well trajectories, casing, and cementing designs.
- Prepare cost estimates, AFEs, and drilling schedules while actively monitoring operational performance against plans.
- Provide critical technical support during offshore drilling operations to resolve operational challenges and dysfunctions.
- Lead well risk assessments, DWOPS, technical reviews, and comprehensive lessons-learned processes.
- Optimize drilling performance, minimize non-productive time (NPT), and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising well integrity.
- Coordinate seamlessly with drilling contractors, service companies, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure strict adherence to well control standards, regulatory compliance, and management-of-change processes.
- Mentor junior engineers, driving technical assurance, knowledge transfer, and team professional growth.
- Bachelor Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant upstream drilling engineering experience, with significant exposure to offshore operations.
- Valid IWCF or IADC well-control certification.
- Active membership in relevant professional engineering bodies is strongly preferred.
