We are currently seeking an accomplished Senior Drilling Engineer to provide technical leadership across well planning, drilling programme development, and flawless execution activities in Nigeria's upstream sector.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Drilling Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing well delivery while maintaining the highest standards of safety, integrity, and regulatory compliance. Your core duties will include:
- Develop comprehensive drilling programmes, well trajectories, casing designs, cementing programmes, and execution plans.
- Prepare accurate drilling cost estimates, time estimates, AFEs, and detailed project schedules.
- Provide expert technical engineering support during drilling operations to resolve complex challenges and reduce Non-Productive Time (NPT).
- Lead Drilling the Well on Paper (DWOP) sessions, risk assessments, and pre-drill technical reviews.
- Coordinate drilling contractors, service companies, and multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure seamless operational execution.
- Capture and apply lessons learned from past drilling campaigns to continuously improve future well designs.
The ideal candidate for this role must possess the following qualifications and expertise:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant upstream E&P industry experience, with proven expertise in drilling engineering and well design.
- Valid IWCF or IADC Well Control certification strongly preferred.
- Membership in a relevant professional engineering body is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HSE regulations, operational controls, and risk management frameworks.
