About the Role
Health and Development Support Programme (HANDS) is seeking a dedicated Security, Safety and Safeguarding Officer to champion safety protocols and ensure a secure working environment across our Nigerian operations. In this vital role, you will safeguard our personnel, assets, and program participants while maintaining compliance with national and international standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development, implementation, and periodic review of organizational security plans, safety protocols, and crisis management frameworks.
- Provide expert guidance on security risk assessments, incident response, and business continuity planning across all field sites and head office.
- Coordinate the Crisis Management Group and lead serious incident reporting, analysis, and lesson-learning processes.
- Drive organizational safeguarding policies, manage safeguarding investigations, and ensure robust protection standards against abuse and exploitation.
- Design and deliver comprehensive training sessions on security, safety, and safeguarding for staff, partners, and trustees.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with proven experience in security, safety, and safeguarding management within the NGO sector.
- Strong understanding of emergency response protocols, security risk management, and safeguarding best practices in fragile contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting risk assessments, managing sensitive investigations, and delivering professional training.
- Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and crisis-management skills with a trauma-sensitive approach.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, with proficiency in Hausa considered a strong advantage.
