About the Role
Kredete is a leading personal finance company focused on helping everyone in Africa make financial progress through accessible financial resources and personalized recommendations. We are seeking a seasoned Security Engineer to safeguard our critical digital assets and infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. In this role, you will be the frontline defender, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our financial systems.
Key Responsibilities- Continuously monitor security alerts from SIEM, EDR, and firewalls to detect and investigate malicious activity.
- Lead incident response efforts, performing containment, eradication, and forensic analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests across networks, applications, and cloud environments.
- Configure and optimize security infrastructure including firewalls, WAF, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection tools.
- Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to improve operational security efficiency.
- Enforce IT security policies and ensure compliance with relevant standards like ISO 27001 and the NDPA.
- Contribute to company-wide security awareness training initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a cybersecurity role such as Security Engineer or SOC Analyst.
- Strong practical experience with core security tools including SIEM, EDR, and enterprise firewalls.
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals, TCP/IP, DNS, and cloud security platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Strong administration skills in both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Relevant professional certifications such as CEH, Security+, CySA+, or CISSP are a plus.
