About the Role
Basic Foundation International School (BFIS), a reputable co-educational private institution in Aba, Abia State, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Secondary School Chemistry Teacher for an immediate start. In this role, you will inspire senior secondary students, foster critical thinking, and drive exceptional results in internal and external examinations such as WAEC, NECO, and JAMB.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging, tech-integrated Chemistry lessons aligned with the NERDC curriculum and external exam syllabi.
- Conduct weekly laboratory experiments, teaching precise measurement techniques for titration, qualitative analysis, and general chemistry.
- Enforce strict laboratory safety protocols and manage the inventory of reagents, acids, and glassware.
- Design, administer, and grade assessments while tracking student progress through online and offline portals.
- Lead intensive past-question drills and continuous assessments targeting WAEC, NECO, and UTME success.
- Support or lead science clubs like the JETS Club and coordinate student participation in local and national competitions.
- Maintain accurate academic and attendance records, providing constructive feedback during PTA meetings and parent open days.
- B.Sc.Ed / B.Ed in Chemistry, or a B.Sc / B.Eng in Pure/Industrial Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
- Valid registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years of active SSS classroom teaching experience with a proven track record of excellent WAEC/NECO results.
- Active status as a WAEC/NECO examiner or experience teaching the British Curriculum will be an added advantage.
