About the Role

The Sahara Centre (TSC) invites applications for a remote Researcher position to advance our intellectual agenda exploring indigenous knowledge systems and African development. This fixed-term role offers a unique opportunity to shape academic and policy outputs from anywhere in the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute original research aligned with the Centre’s frameworks using quantitative or qualitative methods.
  • Draft high-standard academic journal articles, policy papers, and public-facing research outputs.
  • Participate virtually in Centre programming, including Lantern Lab sessions and project meetings.
  • Supervise Research Interns and Graduate Assistants on assigned projects.
  • Represent the Centre in academic and policy networks, conferences, and convenings.
Qualifications
  • PhD in development studies, African studies, political economy, or a related discipline (Master's holders nearing PhD completion may be considered).
  • Demonstrated publication record in peer-reviewed journals or comparable academic and policy outlets.
  • Strong grounding in indigenous knowledge frameworks and African development scholarship.
  • Exceptional independent research, writing, and project management skills for remote environments.
  • Reliable internet access and availability during West Africa Time (WAT) working hours.
