About the Role
The Sahara Centre (TSC) is a Lagos-based non-profit organisation that explores how indigenous knowledge systems can drive innovation and development across Africa. We connect communities, policymakers, and creators to design solutions reflecting Africa's unique potential. We are currently seeking a dedicated and dynamic Researcher for an in-person, fixed-term appointment of three or six months to drive our intellectual agenda and contribute significantly to our academic and policy publications.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute original research aligned with the Centre's intellectual frameworks and strategic priorities.
- Apply rigorous quantitative and qualitative methodologies tailored to specific research inquiries.
- Manage comprehensive research timelines, project milestones, and final deliverables effectively.
- Produce rigorous, evidence-based prose targeted at senior academic and policy-making audiences.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders while maintaining institutional standards for all published outputs.
- A PhD in Development Studies, African Studies, Political Economy, or a closely related discipline; strong Master's candidates or PhD candidates with a confirmed defense date will also be considered.
- A proven publication record in peer-reviewed journals or reputable academic and policy platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and executing independent research projects from inception to publication.
- Strong familiarity with indigenous knowledge frameworks and contemporary African development scholarship.
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods, with fluency in at least one.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities involving an African language is an added advantage.
