About the Role

Slum and Rural Health Initiative is a dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare access, information, and service delivery in vulnerable and underserved communities across Africa through advocacy, research, and technology. We are currently looking for a passionate and skilled Research Officer to join our vibrant team at our Lagos office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage quantitative and qualitative research projects focused on public health in underserved communities.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret complex health data to generate actionable insights and evidence-based reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including healthcare professionals, social scientists, and IT experts.
  • Draft research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals, policy briefs, and advocacy materials.
  • Assist in grant writing, project proposals, and monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Represent the organization at relevant stakeholder meetings, workshops, and research symposia.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related healthcare field.
  • Proven professional experience in public health research, data collection, and report writing.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, R, NVivo, or KoboToolbox.
  • Strong understanding of research ethics, methodology, and fieldwork dynamics in Nigeria.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.
