About the Role
The Sahara Centre (TSC) is seeking a motivated and analytical Research Assistant for a fully remote, fixed-term placement of three to six months. Working closely with our research team, you will contribute to innovative projects exploring indigenous knowledge systems, creative programming, and African development. This flexible remote opportunity welcomes passionate researchers from anywhere in the world who are eager to drive impactful cross-sector solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough literature reviews and background research under the direction of the assigned project lead.
- Support qualitative and quantitative data collection as well as basic data cleaning for active research projects.
- Draft high-quality sections of research reports and outputs for review and refinement.
- Maintain meticulously organized project records, documentation, and accurate source citations.
- Participate actively in virtual Centre programming, including Lantern Lab sessions and regular team check-ins.
- Recently completed a Master's degree or currently enrolled in PhD candidacy in a relevant academic field, with consideration also given to exceptional Bachelor's degree holders.
- Demonstrated prior research experience through academic coursework, a thesis, or an internship at a development-focused organization.
- Strong foundational knowledge of research methods, source evaluation, and analytical writing.
- Reliable internet access, self-discipline, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting during West Africa Time working hours.
- A strong interest in African development, indigenous knowledge systems, and cultural innovation.
