About the Role
Malaria Consortium is recruiting a dedicated Research Assistant for the DISBURMA Study (Disaggregating the Burden of Severe Malaria in Paediatric Populations in Nigeria) in Katsina. This important role involves capturing and managing retrospective hospital data to improve age-specific malaria interventions and healthcare planning across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Retrieve and review inpatient medical records, laboratory registers, and emergency logs for severe malaria cases between 2021 and 2025.
- Collaborate with medical record officers to extract accurate patient data using electronic data capture tools like SurveyCTO.
- Document key variables including patient demographics, clinical presentations, treatments, comorbidities, and treatment outcomes.
- Ensure timely data submission and respond to queries from the project technical team, NMEP, and SMEP.
- Minimum of a diploma in a health-related field or registered nurse/midwife certification.
- Currently working in the pediatric or medical ward of the project hospital as a staff member or volunteer.
- Demonstrated experience in inpatient care and medical data collection.
- Proficiency in using electronic platforms for data capture and reporting.
- Strong communication skills and familiarity with health research ethics.
